This one year training will allow students to master a range of jewellery polishing techniques and to prepare for the National Diploma “CAP Art et Techniques de la Bijouterie-Joaillerie”, in Polishing.

The polisher receives fairly polished pieces fabricated by the jeweller. The polisher makes these precious pieces shine by providing the final touch. This is done with emery paper, brushes, thin threads and polishing paste. The polisher will sand, polish, clean and brighten the pieces of jewellery. The machines will assist the polisher to polish easily accessible parts of the jewellery. The polisher also uses threads and ribbons to reach small areas and corners within the jewellery piece. The polishing phase is repeated twice with precise care, before and after the stone setting process.According to the Jeweller needs, the polisher will apply various metal surface treatments giving it matt, satin, shiny or sand blasted finish. In addition, the polisher can also rhodium plate white gold. The polisher working for a jewellery manufacturer or as an independent craftsman will need to be clever with his/her hands, meticulous and thorough.
